The Honorable Alan M. Simpson

Fresno County Superior Court, Department 401

Biography

The Hon. Alan M. Simpson is a judge on the Superior Court of Fresno County in California. He was appointed in 2000 by former California Governor Gray Davis.

Judge Simpson went to California State University Fresno where he received his bachelor's degree in Political Science in 1977. He enrolled at San Joaquin College in law in 1979. At the time his entering class consisted of only 24 students, and he was one of 11 total students that would ultimately go on to graduate in 1983. It was here, during his third year of law school that he met his wife Robbie.

After law school, he began work as a Deputy District Attorney for Fresno County. Later in 1989, he joined the private firm of Marderosian & Swanson where he practiced insurance defense litigation.

After his 2000 appointment to the Fresno County Superior Court, Judge Simpson served as the Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division for three years. In 2004, he would join the Civil Division of the Fresno Country Superior Court.
